From its 1837 origin as a trading post, Montgomery County has grown to half a million residents, and population is projected to increase to 1 million by 2030. With some of the largest master planned communities in the Houston-Galveston region and multiple, rapidly expanding employment centers, Montgomery County is experiencing congestion and mobility challenges. The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is managing three concurrent studies to prepare the area to accommodate this extraordinary growth. The same individuals from H-GAC are managing all three projects so that the process flows smoothly among overlapping participants; the public has ready access to information and opportunities for providing input; and the results that are compatible and complementary.
